Jonah 2:1-2 (KJV) Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, and said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Jonah was disobedient, rebellious, and selfish. He had run from the Lord. He had shunned the Lord's command. He had endangered the lives of those on the ship where he had tried to hide. Yet even in the middle of his rebellion, God heard his cry and delivered him. If you are in rebellion, if you are seeking to hide some secret and all-consuming sin, please know the Lord wants to ransom and redeem you! Things won't be easy, but coming back to the Lord means ultimate redemption and deliverance.
Jonah in his ultimate humility realized he was deserving of death and God had given him extraordinary mercy ... which in turn required Jonah to live up to the made covenant between himself and God. Many times we break our covenant with God, doing so knowingly and deliberately, just as Jonah was in his neglect to follow God's calling. Tho, we in our life times do this repeatedly and without resraint. I wonder how many of us must go thru a terrible trial or tragedy, or how many of such, before we will stop ignoring God ...
If you want redemption or you seek somethng from The Lord, but are unwilling to give something of yourself in return, and only cast blame upon Him when things go wrong ... then tell me, why should God grant you anything when you continually shun Him and His Word ...
Our God is most merciful in His giving and yet many of you carry on in your sinful demeanor, taking God for granted, assuming He wishes nothing from you when an entire Bible is provided for us to live by, no tfor you to pick and choose what is convenient! Well you are sadly mistaken. The terrible events in your life come perhaps to get your attention off of your selfish feelings and onto your unsaved souls!
Stop crying "Lord, Lord" and start claiming "Yes Lord" for when the end comes, crying "Lord, Lord" will do nothing or you ...
