Wars are fought between nations, and ideologies. And often the unit of battle is forgotten ... Man. Forgotten, smothered beneath the confusion of propaganda. Forgotten in the glorified, falsified statistics of battle. Dismembered, flash burned, bone rotten, dying and dead. Man is what fights the wars, or are used as pawns in enforcing tyranny. Ultimately the battle is fought between men on both sides. We get lost in the media stories, the technologies and are blind to the true reasons wars are created. We become entranced by the glorification of murder and genocide justified as "fighting for freedom" while in reality we have no freedom ... We are prisoners of our own hatred of false enemies and the love of our dictators. Arundhati Roy stated "Flags are bits of colored cloth that governments use first to shrink-wrap people's minds & then as ceremonial shrouds to bury the dead." Flags are in truth representative of many evils under the cover of false patriotism. The worst is their instrumental use in causing division, hatred and unnecessary wars that only help the rich get richer. Their wealth thrives on our blind thirst for blood and the destruction of weaker nations ...
