"Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich." Proverbs 28:6
"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Psalms 37:4
These 2 Scriptures are very conflicting for some people. Many do not understand the true meaning of the second one, and many are hard pressed to live by the first ...
Materialism and wealth do NOT show forth how blessed you are! Your behavior and demeanor in your walk with God does. Like it or not God does bless you with your fancy sports cars and expensive collections (whatever they may be). He did however bless you with the resources to waste on such things. I believe you will be held accountable for the choices you make with how you in how you spend your money ... myself included. I have never known wealth or stability, but I have made poor choices in how to spend money when I've had it. I believe this to be the reason I am still poor, because I have not yet learned as much about financial responsibility as I thought I knew ...
I have this uncanny way of being extremely responsible and really good at budgeting other people's money, but with my own its always been a toss up. Sort of the like the housekeeper who lives a messy house ...
Matthew 21:12-13 "And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."
"As someone who is part of a mega church I find this offensive" ... a statement from some disgruntled money made, church of man member ...
Mark 11:15-16 "And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple."
Jesus would walk into a building like yours and kick over everything before ever accepting such a place as something to represent Him ...
A wealthy mega church is not godly because its the type of place Jesus would enter and kick over all it's tables and tell everyone off for how they have wasted their money. Expensive sound equipment and high priced clothing do not reflect God in anything or anyone. Royalty like chairs for the Pastors and ministers to sit on the platform above everyone are NOT approved of God.
What does this say to those who are poor and unable to obtain such things? Why are so many people depressed and miserable during the pagan holidays? ... because they feel left out and they feel as though God has rejected them. They believe themselves undeserving of the love and comfort you stand behind your 1000$ pulpits and speak of! This is not the message we should be sending!!!
I do not care who you are or who you think you are, nor do I care if you are offended. Take it up with God. I'm a preacher, not an ear tickler ...
