When I first started out in the Apostolic faith there was not a lot of fancy technical equipment to enhance the singing and quite frankly I liked that better than today's entertainment concerts and lights shows. (Even many of our youth that I have met do not even care for the lights flashing everywhere) Neither congregation nor Pastors had their little electronic devices to play with during service. Now I have seen too many ministers sitting on the platform tweeting. People don't even bring Bibles anymore because we use the projection screens way too much. What does that teach us? Back then churches had gatherings with food and beverage, not costume parties with use of the Halloween terminology on all the different candy and snacks that were served. Certainly not renamed to justify gaining numbers! There was no decorating and such. Same goes for Christmas and Easter which are also both Pagan originated holidays that have been indoctrinated into Christianity. We justify so much about the way we go about things because they are based on a Christian twisted story, but what do we do instead of worshiping and being thankful now ... we put on shows that many times have no real spiritual inspiration on us at all. We merely respond emotionally to the wonderful performance. Especially since we tend to have many guests who are not fully knowledged in the truth. So in turn we send them a message teaching that these things are ok. It shows them that WE as Christians are willing to change for the world sake ... even tho GOD does not change.
I listen to people talk about Christmas which means the denial of Christ and talking about Baptism as if sprinkling drops of bird bath water over ones head is enough. They talk about church politics instead of church purpose. Talking about annointing with oil and communion (convocation) like they are just some ritual without any spiritual reasoning. I mean I don't usually argue semantics, but I mean come on people open your eyes! Open a dictionary! Open a proper translation of the Bible! Open your hearts to God and close your minds to the world!
2 Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Many people will use or ignore scripture and interpret in such a way as to justify the way THEY want to do things rather than the way GOD wants ...
I do not claim that people are unsaved and sinning their lives away but there are certain things that we are no longer careful about. We no longer have balance. We become too busy to notice how much the devil has really snuck in to our congregations and our personal lives. Its not just gossip and malice dividing us anymore ... The devil is wise and cunning and his wiley ways are blinding. Ephesians 4:27, 6:11
Listen, I don't simply refer to what the individual does. I use to love trick or treating just for the candy. I miss decorating for what I once believed Christmas was. I still play video games and love my androids and laptops, but I have learned to outweigh those things with more time spent with God and in study.
My efforts here lean toward how the church as a whole has changed in their representation of God and what the Bible teaches us. We are losing this battle. The devil is dragging many of us straight to Hell and taking the fight out of us with so many distractions!
