In light of my recent studies on the celebrating of pagan holidays as something Christian I have been compelled to look more deeply into idolatry and the use of such a wide variety of physical representations of God or just things that we ourselves enjoy having perhaps a little too much ...
So let us begin with the 2nd Commandment given us thru Moses ...
Exodus 20:4-6 States the following:
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."
Our Creator is a living God, not an inanimate object, statue, figurine or picture. To make any physical representation of Him distorts and limits our perception of what He is truly like and ultimately damages our relationship with Him.
These include such things as the Cross which was nothing more than a post or tree, likely more in the shape of a letter Y in its structure of use, and is the symbol of suffering and shame, used as a way of execution and torture, and we use it as something to represent God! One ought not to have, wear or display one. It is an idol object rejected by the 2nd Commandment ... Pitures of Lions and Lambs ... *Exodus 20:4* "... or any creature or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath" , the Fish *Exodus 20:4* "... or that is in the water under the earth" (looks an awful lot like the Illuminati "All Seeing Eye" to me, and makes me very uneasy when I see it) The Star Of David is of pagan origin. It has been used for many purposes including that of Jewish Mysticism, and as the pentagram used is Satanic rituals and witchcraft as well as the Masonic Star. Its actually worked to corrupt Israel more than anything. Certainly all the Catholic forms of symbolism like the Rosary and the Crucifix, the statues and portraits of Saints, or the window paintings with the ring of the pagan Sun God (NOT Halo's) over all their heads. Steeples are an insult to God. I am always reminded of Babel an the old pagan obelisks. The Manger or the so named Nativity, the false painting of Jesus ... "or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above" ... is a drunkards self portrait proclaimed to be Jesus. We know not what Jesus truly looks like! These should not be displayed anywhere, in homes, churches or profile pictures. It is insulting to God! More especially Pagan inventions being used to celebrate what we have been seduced into believing as something Holy and wonderful. Like the Christmas Tree which is a symbol that stands in direct defiance of God and His word which rejects that we have one ... *Jeremiah 10* is in direct reference to the tree and I have shown you other research in history of how decorating for "Christ Mass" (The Dismisall or Denial Of Christ) has no place in Christianity! Hearing people talk of it like its something good and Holy and wonderful makes me very uncomfortable ... what these things mean to us does not matter. Its what they mnean to God that we ought give our respect ...
Much of these items and terms are from the Catholic church which is controlled by the Freemasons, The Monarchy and the Illuminati. They have indoctrinated our society with all these deceptions that cause us to act against Gods Word and we just accept it crying "Lord, Lord" all the while!
*Isaiah 44:9-10* "They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed. Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?"
You do not have to "worship" a thing for it to be wrong to possess. It is in defiance of God's Word. If you reject His Word for your own justifed selfishness, how to do you think God feels?
In the 2nd Cmmandment God basically tells us: "Do not attempt to tell Me what I am like. I will tell you what I am like! It is vital to your soul that you correctly understand that I will not accept any representations of Me." We need realistically to understand how we are like God in our present state. We seem unable to fathom that we are destined to become even more like Him ...
Now don't get the wrong idea. God wants us to earn a good living so we can have nice things. Now granted that is not necessarily going to be true for everyone. Its how we care for our relationship with God that matters most. Do we spend enough time alone with Him? Do we allow our possessions and enjoyments to out weight our study and prayer time? It is not the having of things that is the problem, it is when those possessions become obsessions without us even realizing it. Such as celebrity memorabilia or the idolization of a person, whether famous or otherwise. You may not believe you ar eputting these things before God, but these things can all interfere with and work against your personal relationship with Our Lord ...
*Deuteronomy 4:23-31*
"Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee. For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed. And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you. And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the LORD thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them."
God gives us creative skills and leadership abilities that parallel His own, although on a vastly smaller scale. We alone of His own creation have our own mind power. Our minds can reason, analyze, plan and visualize the future. We create literature, art, music and poetry. We design and build. We can organize, manage and supervise things, creatures and people. We are - in limited ways - much like God.
Tho, in many other ways we as humans are far from being like Him. Our character tends to weakness. Our relationships with others leave much to be desired. Our spiritual understanding is extremely limited and quite often badly flawed and distorted. Our perceptions are often inaccurately misguided. We are stubbornly biased in our own opinions. We harbor prejudices and are quick to engage ourselves in conflicts. Many of which are none of our business!
In all these areas, especially in matters of the spirit, we fall greatly short of being like God. God has given us limited abilities and characteristics similar to His own, but we need much development and an infinite amount of fine tuning before ever truly becoming like Him in nature and character ...
*Deuteronomy 28:64-65*
"Then the LORD will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known — wood and stone. And among those nations you shall find no rest, nor shall the sole of your foot have a resting place; but there the LORD will give you a trembling heart, failing eyes, anguish of soul, and sorrow of mind"
... To Be Continued ...
This is an on going progression and will not be finished all at once.
