Philippians 4:6-7 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
What would be the result if we let our requests be made known to God in everything by way of prayer and petition with thanksgiving? There will be the best result according to God.
"shall keep (gaurd) your hearts and minds" Now gaurd in its original language is a special military term. We can translate it as "garrison" or "patrol." God's peace is patrolling our heart like the soldier garrisoning the city, and His peace keeps our hearts in peace when we trust in Him to keep us. No anxiety can break thru this line and come into our hearts.
According to our concept, as soon as man sinned, God should have sent forth the Savior. But God was not anxious, and His time is far different from ours. When the fullnes of the time came, God sent forth His son. He waited several thousand years (of our time) He was not in any hurry. Even if men attack Him, oppose Him, and deny Him, He does not send down His wrath. He is at peace. Even tho He encounters many adversaries ...
God has commanded that we let our requests be made known to Him in everything. Thru prayer and with thanksgiving. Not with selfish agenda's and petty needs ... He has promises that He will send us His own peace like soldiers guarding our hearts. Keeping out all worry, suffering, and discomfort. If we commit everything to Him, we will have the peace which is beyond human understanding and that which man cannot possess or destroy.
This peace can guard our hearts and thoughts and enable us to safely survive every storm we encounter. The problem is when we look to our own ways or to the ways of others who know not God. Then we attract more trouble in our lives because we know better ...
You will be surprised at the peace God can provide and tho some would mock and scoff at you for your peace, many will marvel at you, just as they marveled at Jesus ...
