Exodus 20:8-11 (KJV) "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."
Like the 2nd Commandment many seem not to realize just what it truly means, therefore they run with what they do know and ultimately ignore these much more and with greater audacity than the other Commandments ...
This commandment is controversial to most professing Christians. God instructs us to observe it, but most simply choose to ignore it. Yet, the Fourth Commandment is the all important test commandment. How we keep it demonstrates our willingness to Honor Him and walk in His ways. God's word describes it as a sign identifying the people who seek to obey Him ...
Which day is the Sabbath? One of the longest debated questions in Bible teachings. Theologians and ministers of every background have offered their own "opinions" on the matter of "Saturday or Sunday" ...
Keep in mind that the names given these days are of pagan origin and are representative of their gods. Starting to sound a lot like idolatry isn't it? (Refer back to my messages on Idolatry) ...
The Fourth Commandment is the only one upon which a covenant was made. Next to the 2nd Commandment it is the most detailed in its meaning. Also both the 2nd and 4th Commandments are the ones most Christian churches have chosen to alter for their own "convenience." Effectively the the 1st and 2nd Commandment have in essence, been "combined" and ultimately removing the Second Commandment from the Bible.
Churches have "claimed" the authority to change the definition of idolatry and moving the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to the first. Satan has gone to great lengths to deceive the world about the importance of keeping the Sabbath ...
What we must also realize is that "gathering" for fellowship (whether in the church) is not the issue. The issue here is that running a service is work for many people. The music, and sound system and ushering and so on is all work that we ought not be doing ...
God made the Sabbath as a time for man to rest from the previous 6 days of work. He knew that man would need this rest, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The Sabbath is a time to break away from the daily routine, commune with God, and reflect on our purpose for being ...
The Sabbath officially begins on "Friday" evening at sunset and ends at sunset on "Saturday" evening. God blessed and sanctified this time, making it Holy! When God confers such honor upon anything, we should take special notice! Many Scriptures make it very clear why He set the Sabbath apart from the rest of the week.
We should recognize that God commands man to work 6 days. He wants man to earn a proper living, providing for himself and his family as well as manage his life and finances in accordance with His laws ... John 5:17 and 36 show that God the Father and Christ work, so should we
God created, sanctified (set apart) and ordained the Sabbath and we have set ourselves apart from that great blessing for the sake of selfish convenience. This has, in addition to many things, contributed to the corruption and utter blasphemy conducted in our "churches" every Sunday! Having church on Sunday is breaking God's Fourth Commandment!
